Emery, who is current locked up at the North Fraser Pretrial Centre, is awaiting extradition to the United States where he could serve a 5-year prison sentence after being targeted by the government for selling marijuana seeds over the Internet and using the money to fund activist organizations.

Canadian Marc Emery has been fighting extradition to the USA and possible life imprisonment since July 2005. In March 2008, the Canadian Government decided to turn down a unique type of plea deal the USA and Marc Emery's lawyer had arranged -- one that required Canadian charges to be laid first -- which meant the extradition process resumed. However, on July 17th 2009, Marc's co-accused Michelle Rainey and Greg Williams went to Seattle, Washington and were sentenced to 2 years probation in Canada (no prison time, hooray!). Because of this, the extradition hearing that was scheduled for June 1-5th, 2009 in the BC Supreme Court was adjourned pending plea deal negotiations between Marc's lawyer and Todd Greenberg, the US Prosecutor.

Speaking from the Old Supreme Court Chamber, Circuit Judge John Fogleman formally announced that he will run for the Arkansas Supreme Court this coming year.  Fogleman will face Court of Appeals Judge Courtney Henry of Fayetteville who announced last week.  Fogleman was introduced by retired Arkansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Dub Arnold who know Fogleman when they were both Circuit Judges.

I find that you can tell a lot about someone based on the type of carrot cake they make. I find that those who enjoy pineapple and coconut in their carrot cake are a bit more flamboyant and unpredictable than the average baker and, likely, have a tiki shirt in their closet. Those who prefer heavy amount of cloves and raisins are traditionalists; they have a penchant for nostalgia and reminiscing over their fragrant and fruity carrot cakes that encapsulate their childhood. Others prefer orange juice - modernizing the classics and stirring up cocktails to pair with them.

VANCOUVER — Members of Vancouver’s gay community rallied Tuesday on Davie Street to express outrage over what they described as a hate attack on a 62-year-old man who was allegedly punched in the head by a man who called him a “faggot.”

George Carlin was known as a great stand up comic. Carlin hosted the first broadcast of "Saturday Night Live" in October 1975. He starred as a cabdriver in his own sitcom, "The George Carlin Show" which ran from 1993 to 1995. Carlin had a very bad habit, he was addicted to Diet Coke with aspartame. He suffered several heart attacks, one at Dodger Stadium during a baseball game. He died of heart failure on Sunday, June 22nd.

The campaign highlights the hypocrisy of laws that may allow a major alcohol dealer to become First Lady, yet make criminals out of adults who possess marijuana, a drug that has been found to be far less harmful than alcohol both to the user and to society.The campaign has launched a Web site -- http://www.DrugDealerCindy.com -- detailing Cindy McCain's role as the head of Hensley & Co., one of the nation's largest beer distributorships, as well as the relative harms of the two drugs.
